Name - Skittles Location North Carolina Adoption Fee - $250.00 SPECIAL NEEDS Blind since a very young age Skittles has no idea that hes different from the other dogs. Hes a young playful boy and not treated as special by his foster parents to give him a normal life. He had either sustained a head injury or been around toxic chemicals shortly after his birth. The eye specialist doubts very much that he was born blind. 2 year old Skittles arrived at his foster parents home at around 3 months old. He had been taken away from his owner by neighbors who watched as this person collected dog after dog. When he tired of the dog it was delegated to the backyard for the rest of its life on a chain. Skittles still had slight vision by the time he came to us but it rapidly deteriorated. To be honest we didnt know he was blind for several months later. Bumping in to the back of our feet or catching the corner of a door, we thought Skittles was just being a puppy. By the time he had lost his sight he had the floor plan of the house and yard committed to memory and he is flawless in his movements. Skittles has been adopted previously but unfortunately returned but neither time was it because of something Skittles did. Skittles is a wonderful loving boy who deserves a home of his own. At his foster home Skittles is always on the defensive with so many other dogs in the house. He deserves a home with at least one other small dog for companionship. Skittles is a smooth black and tan mini weighing right at 10 pounds. He loves to play, run and do everything a dog does. He is very people friendly and good with children. Being blind he will be leery of meeting any new dog that comes into his life. He is a critter chaser so no cats in the home. Skittles needs a fenced in yard and most of all he needs a pair of eyes. He needs to be adopted into a home with another small dog to see for him. Skittles cannot be crated and is house broken. He is use to a doggie door that he flies in and out of when playing tag. He is neutered, current on his vaccines and on heartworm and flea prevention. Skittles is also micro chipped.
